The IRB has announced the appointment of four referees, five assistant referees and two assessors for the Junior World Rugby Trophy to take place in Hong Kong on 7-19 April 2014.
Referees: Henrique Platais (Brazil), Vlad Iordachescu (Romania), Ben Whitehouse (Wales), Kaveni Talemaivavalagi (Samoa)
Assistant referees: Derek Summers (USA), Victor Oduor Ojuku (Kenya), Norman Drake (United Arab Emirates), Chris Linwood (United Arab Emirates), Patrick Kwok (Hong Kong)
Assessors: Carlos Molinari (Argentina), Takashi Harada (Japan)
Of the referees Vlad Iordachescu, who has been refereeing in Tier 1 countries recently, refereed the 2012 JWRT Final in Salt Lake City, Utah in the USA.
The group will be overseen by IRB referee manager Bernd Gabbei of Germany and will receive the benefit of performance reviews, coaching and in-depth video analysis to assist in their development as elite match officials.
IRB high performance match official manager Joël Jutge said: “The IRB and its Member Unions invest considerable resources in developing the next generation of international match officials. The IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy provides a key platform for leading match officials from across the world to test themselves at elite tournament level."

The countries taking part in the JWRT in 2014 are Canada, Georgia , Hong Kong , Japan, Namibia, Tonga, Uruguay, USA
The 2013 winner was Italy who beat Canada in the Final and were promoted to the Junior World Championship in New Zealand in June..
