U20 Champs Begin in Italy

The World Junior Championship opens in Northern Italy on Tuesday with 12 teams.

The hosts play South Africa in Calvisano. The reigning champions, England, who won in New Zealand last year, play Japan at the same venue.

The teams are divided into three pools.

Pool A: England, France, Japan, Wales
Pool B: South Africa, Australia, Samoa, Italy
Pool C: Argentina, Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland

The matches have been laid down for the first three rounds, after which the teams start playing knock-out matches.
