Jaco Peyper became a father in the early hours of Tuesday morning when his wife Zenobia gave birth to a daughter called Nina.
The great family of rugby referees will want to congratulate Jaco and Zenobia and wish Nina the happiest of lives.
All went well and the timing was perfect. Father Jaco had been appointed to referee Stormers-Chiefs on Saturday as birth became imminent, but the baby seemed to understand and stayed home till Jaco was back in Bloemfontein.
The timing gets better and better as Jaco has a bye this weekend before going on duty in Durban, Dunedin and Canberra.
Nina was the chosen name as it is her grandmother's name. In fact in Spanish it means the girl, the granddaughter. When Christopher Columbus sailed away on his voyage of discovery one of his three ships was called Nina. Just think of all the exciting discoveries Nina Peyper - and her parents - are about to make.
We are all so happy for them.
