Six Nations Rugby has announced the appointment of referees to the 15 2020 Six Nations Championship's matches. The championship starts when Luke Pearce blows the whistle to start the ,match between Ireland and Wales in Dublin.

Two of them were referees whose retirement has been the subject of speculation. - Nigel Owens of Wales and Wayne Barnes of England. Both have been appointed to matches - Owens to his 98th Test when France play England and Barnes to his 90th when France play Ireland in the last match of the 2020 Six Nations.

Andrew Brace of Ireland will referee his first Six Nations match. Brace is an international man - really a Welshman as he was born in Cardiff and he played international rugby for Belgium, qualifying through his father.

Apart from Brace, the referees appointed as referees are those who were at this year's World Cup in Japan, minus Jérôme Garcès who has retired from refereeing internationals. Jaco Peyper is to referee his 51th Test.

Two referees have been appointed to two matches each - Pascal Gaüzère and Ben O'Keeffe.

New Zealand have been allotted most matches to referee - four in all.

3: England, France
2: Australia
1:  Ireland, South Africa, Wales.
